How to get rid of Diarrhea

Going to the toilet every 10 minutes? You have a feeling of trying to “clear” everything in your bowels? The feeling of Diarrhea is terrible and I myself has this experience. Imagine having a Diarrhea before your all-important job interview! So, while you can look to the pharmacy for charcoal for the fast relief of diarrhea, let’s also look at some natural home remedy too.

Before we look at treating Diarrhea, I want to highlight that Diarrhea is a natural process of our body to clear the toxins and bad bacteria. I would usually recommend that you treat yourself only after 2-3 hours of Diarrhea. I know it’s hard to bear but allow your body to do some work first before treatment.

The key in treating Diarrhea is that you need to prevent dehydration. Diarrhea can easily dehydrate you in a matter of hours so it is important to drink lots of fluids to replace the loss of water. But, drinking water may not be enough as we need to replace not only the loss of water, but the loss of electrolytes like sodium in our body. Moderate drinking of isotonic drinks like Gatorade can help replace fluids and electrolytes loss

Black Tea: You can drink black tea with a bit of sugar. Black tea helps you to reduce inflammation of your intestines and stops the toxin absorption. Other tea include blackberry tea and raspberry tea can be use effectively. Drink a few of them over a day to help relief diarrhea.

Garlic: Garlic is well known for its antibacterial properties, so try 2-3 cloves of garlic (peeled and crushed), add a teaspoon of brown sugar and boil them in 300ml of water. Drink this 3-4 times a day.

Recovering from Diarrhea

As you recover from your diarrhea slowly, you need to watch out on your diet. Avoid all types of fruit juices as they can make your diarrhea worse. Broth is a very good diet for you. You can also recover from Diarrhea by following the BRAT diet. BRAT stands for banana, rice, applesauce and toast. These foods can help to soak out excess fluid in your body and balance your intestine process. Note that the 3rd item is applesauce, not apple juice. Apple juice can make your diarrhea worse!

Lastly, you should also add yogurt into your diet. Yogurt contains good bacteria which can help restore your intestine to healthy levels. Moderate amount of yogurt like 100-200ml will be good enough to help you.

Now, if your diarrhea persist for many days or even weeks even after taking natural or medicine, you may have irritable bowel syndrome, commonly known as IBS. IBS can be pretty serious so I recommend seeing a doctor if your Diarrhea does not end. You can also visit the following banner to see how you can treat IBS naturally too!

How to Get Rid of Sunburn

You have a great holiday at the beach. You spent the whole afternoon baking under the sun. When it’s time to leave, you realized that you forgot to put sunscreen lotion and you get sunburn! Ouch! It hurts a lot isn’t it? So how do you get rid of sunburn?

First, you must understand that you do not heal from a sunburn. When you get a sunburn, your old skin starts to peel off and your new skin will be exposed. As the “burnt” skin tend to be rougher and your new skin is very delicate/sensitive, you will feel the pain when someone SLAPS on your back!

So how do you get rid of sunburn? Well, there are a few ways. Let’s start with some commercial products. You can buy Ibuprofen or aspirin to help reduce the inflammation around your sunburn. It can also help relief the pain. You can also buy some Aloe Vera cream and apply it to the affected area. Aloe Vera is one of the best solution to treat sunburn so consider this as your first option. Sunburn can also be quite dehydrating so drink more water to counter the dryness in your body. When the skin peels away exposing the new skin, be sure to apply moisturizer to prevent irritation.

Now let’s look at some home remedies. Some people swear by these methods but I recommend that you check out these methods to see if they really to get rid of sunburn

Treatment with milk: Fill a bowl with milk and add ice to it. Dip the cloth into the cold milk and squeeze out the excess. Dap the cloth on the affected area, pressing lightly on the skin. In doing this, the cloth will try to absorb the heat and yes you will sense that the cloth will get a little warm. If the cloth gets a little warm, dip the cloth into the cold milk again and repeat the process. Repeat everything until the skin area feels cool. This is also very effective on face too. After that, rinse off the excess milk and see if it would be better the next day. Some people reported that they feel little or no effects of sunburn in just one night.

Treatment with tea: You will need to brew 3-4 teabags in warm-hot water. When the tea is almost black in color, remove the tea bag and let it cool down to room temperature. Dip a cloth into the tea solution and dap this cloth on the affect skin area. Cover all the affected area with tea and don’t wash it away. Go to sleep and try to shower the tea residue the next morning. Some people reported that it works like magic. (Note that if you wear any clothing the tea residue may stain your clothes so wear something that you may want to throw away).

Tomato treatment: Some people apply tomato directly on the skin area. The juice from tomato will help to reduce the redness. Some people said that this treatment is great for sunburn that is very recent. I would say I rather eat the tomatoes as it helps more in that way. 🙂

I hope that my sharing will help you get rid of sunburn. Share with us how you treat your sunburn by adding your comments below.

How to get rid of a cough

Coughing is usually an irritation of the throat, which causes you to cough in order to “eject” the unwanted substance in your body. Doctors have explained that cough can be divided into 2 categories: Dry cough and wet cough. Dry cough usually sound chesty and it’s often occurring at night, where the conditions are cold. Wet cough, however, attempts to cough out phlegm that is irritating the throat. You can hear and feel the wetness of the cough and you have to spit out the phlegm most of the time.

Coughing is also a symptom to indicate a serious illness. If you have only a cough without fever, pain, etc. you can try out the natural remedies and it should help you clear the cough. However, if your cough comes with high fever, flu, short of breath, chill, etc. you should seek a doctor’s attention.

Robitussin DM Cough Suppressant ExpectorantThere are many ways to get rid of a cough. One common way is to take cough medicine. There are 2 type of medicine: Suppressant  and Expectorant. Suppressant is used for dry cough while Expectorant is used for wet cough. Don’t use it the other way round! If you are unsure if you are having a dry or wet cough, Robitussin has a medicine that will treat both wet and dry cough. Depending on each individual, you can recover from your cough in just 2-3 days if you take this medicine.

Robitussin is a trusted brand so I think it’s well suited for everyone. Of course, if you are unsure, it’s always best to ask your family doctor.

Now, we want to look at getting rid of a cough using natural means, that’s what my website is all about. Here are some ways that you can try out:

Candies: If you have a “wet” cough, try Horehound Candy or lemon drops. As this candy tastes a little bittersweet, this candy works like an expectorant which can help loosen the phlegm. However, if you have a “dry” cough, try some slippery elm lozenges or any hard candy because it will help increase the saliva, which will in turn relief the cough.

Drinks: Mix some lemon juice with a little honey and cayenne pepper. It is very useful for all types of cough as it will soothe your throat, plus it helps the process of healing.

If you want to soothe your throat, you can also try mixing some cloves with honey drink. Cloves will help reduce the pain of sore throat and honey soothes your whole throat in general.

Tea: Try Thyme tea. Thyme is excellent in relaxing the respiratory tract. Mix some Thyme in a cup of hot water and add a little honey to taste. You can also try marshmallow tea. Mix some dried marshmallow in water and it can help relief a “wet” cough.

Finally, don’t forget ginger tea. It is also a very effective way to stop a cough. I would recommend adding honey to a ginger tea to taste, plus honey helps to soothe the throat.

Chest Rub: Get a chest rub, like a Mentholatum Ointment. Apply it on your throat and chest to relief yourself from the coughing pains.

Humidifier: If you cough a lot at night, use a humidifier to “wet” the air. It can reduce your night cough a lot.

As a caution, if your cough persists for more than 2 weeks, you must seek a doctor’s attention. Most of the natural remedies that I have talked about will help stop the cough in less than one week. As mentioned in the beginning of this post, if you experience pain in the chest and/or have a high fever, seek medical attention.

How to get rid of heartburn

Heartburn really has no relation to the heart. It is digestive problem that involves acid from the stomach traveling up into the esophagus. Heartburn is a common condition and can be cured in many ways. In fact, there are many natural heartburn cures that work.

The fastest way to treat a heartburn is really simple. It’s the most natural item and it’s available in your kitchen. So what’s the treatment?

If you have a heartburn, drink about 200ml of plain water. You see, water will help flush the acid from your throat back to your stomach. You can feel the relief almost instantly, with a couple of burbs due to chemical reactions.

To prevent heartburn, it is important to know that the main cause of heartburn is food. When people eat some foods it just naturally causes their stomach acid to build up and travel to the esophagus. Foods that are caffeinated, spicy or fatty seem to be the biggest culprits. Since heartburn is often just a nuisance and not a really huge health concern, people often look for natural cures to help ease their suffering.

One of the most obvious ways to cure heartburn naturally is by avoiding the foods that trigger it. A person can monitor their diet and heartburn episodes to figure out what is causing their heartburn to occur. Then they can simply avoid the foods that act as the trigger.

There are other natural heartburn cures that can be easy to try. In India where spicy foods are common and thus so is heartburn, they chew on a basil leaf. The Native Americans has been using rhubarb as a natural cure. Peppermint is also thought to help some people, but in other it may actually be a heartburn trigger, so be careful with that. Sucking on a hard candy has also been found to be great at curing heartburn. When a person is sucking on the hard candy they are swallowing more often which helps to keep the acid in the stomach. These natural cures for heartburn all try to help you once an attack starts and are a great alternative to medications.

The treatment method you choose is good as long as it works for you. However, prolonged heartburn or episodes that occur too often can lead to troubles with your esophagus. Using a natural heartburn cure is something that you can easily do without the interference of a doctor and that is why many people prefer it, but if you have a lot of problems with heartburn then you should really see a doctor. So, if natural heartburn cures work for you then go ahead and use them, but don’t be afraid of seeing the doctor if you can not get your heartburn under control.

So, feel free to try the natural heartburn cures and if they work for you then that is great, but if they do not seem to help then you really should seek medical advice.

If seeking advice is something that you may not be looking forward to, how about visiting this website and find out how you can get rid of heartburn and potential acid reflux problem?
